Mamra almond is a rare variety of almonds (badam) that is exclusively cultivated in Iran and Afghanistan. This type of almond has a special thumb press like shape and only takes around 4% of the world’s almond market share. Mamra is not cultivated in the U.S, and the scarcity is one of the factors that makes it more expensive compared to other types of almonds.
